Two jobs that should stay separate
Modern modelling workflows often include help from:
- Spreadsheet copilots — drafting formulas and commentary in the grid
- Automated model generation — agents or scripts that populate structure from prompts or data
- Template and fill tools — accelerating layout and links across sheets
All of these are designed to build or accelerate building. That is a different job from independently verifying that the finished workbook is correct, complete, and defensible.
Kalc is designed for the second job only. It does not build models and has no stake in their outcome.
The independence gap — and why it matters more now
When build assistance is fast, models move faster too. That increases the value of a separate verification step before:
- A lender or investor meeting
- An investment committee or board pack
- A client presentation
- An external model review engagement
- A transaction close or signing

- It does not replace your build tools or modelling judgement

- It does not guarantee a model is "approved" for any external purpose
It identifies and suggests — you decide what to fix and what to escalate.

- Build using whatever assistants and templates you already trust.
- Verify with Kalc when the model reaches a decision point.
- Remediate from severity-ranked findings.
- Re-verify after material changes — especially before external review.
- Escalate to human review where the stakes require it.
