Onboarding — your first analysis
Kalc is your independent financial analyst inside Excel: systematic verification with severity-ranked findings and cell-level evidence. Kalc does not build or edit models. Scope of use is described in the Beta Terms.
Checklist
- Install — open the personal install link in your invite email and follow the Mac or Windows guide there (~5 min).
- Join Slack — use the private channel link in your invite email for direct team access.
- Configure — paste your beta API key in Settings (API URL
https://api.kalc.tech). See the install reference if you need help opening Kalc in Excel. The key arrives in a separate email from your invite. - Optional — Zero Retention — turn on in Settings for client-confidential work (file deleted after analysis; see Privacy Notice).
- Request an analysis — open a model you know well, start the run from the Kalc pane.
- Review — Assurance (score + themes) first; Inspection for Findings, Assumptions, Financial Statements, Scenarios.
- Feedback — mark findings Looks right / False positive; reply to your invite within ~14 days of first success.
What to expect in the pane
- Assurance — score band, key themes, recommended actions.
- Inspection — findings, assumptions, financial statements, scenarios, recommendations.
- Export — PDF (and markdown brief where entitled) from the task pane footer.
Agent / MCP path
If you work outside Excel, the same verification is available over REST and MCP (mcp.kalc.tech). Ask support@kalc.tech if you need credentials for that path.
